why tadasana

tadasana is the mountain pose in yoga. it is the simplest of poses as it involves just standing straight, feet rooted into the ground, and arms by your side. the beauty of tadasana is that it serves as an essential reset in between the powerful movements of the sun salutation.

for us, the meaning is doubly symbolic:

first, we are both amateur yoga lovers, and big fans of a good tadasana pose after an exhausting flow. second, we affectionately (and sometimes despairingly) refer to our home in rural central maryland (about an hour away from washington dc) as 'the mountain'. hira lives on one side of the mountain, elyssa lives six minutes away on the other.

both in yoga and in our lives, the mountain is our reset.
